The unit is controlled via a 5-inch touchscreen TFT LCD display, utilizing a fairly simple interface to minimize confusion while on the road. Turn-by-turn directions with spoken street names are offered, with millions of POIs (points of interest) to help users quickly locate gas, food and entertainment options as they go. When nearing most major cities the Nuvi's Lane Assist function becomes available, providing drivers with a simulated first-person view of upcoming off-ramps. Junction View uses a series of arrows to direct users from their current lane into the lane required to continue their route, significantly reducing the chance of a wrong turn or missed exit.  Vehicle speed can be referenced at any time at the bottom corner of the unit's screen, alongside a constantly-updating "distance from destination" meter than can be viewed in both time and distance formats.
