The Garmin nuvi 1490T is a high-end, automotive/handheld GPS navigation device. It features a 5", widescreen touch display. Advanced road navigation features include 3D terrain data, HotFix satellite prediction, and free traffic alerts.

For pedestrian use, the 1490T supports cityXplorer public transit maps for dozens of North American and European cities, available for about $10 each. The nuvi 1490T also supports standard features like lane assist and spoken turn-by-turn directions. Preloaded points of interest number over 6 million. A microphone and speaker enable handsfree calling when paired with a compatible Bluetooth device. The nuvi 1490T can also calculate the most fuel-efficient route to a location.
