The Foretrex 401 is a wrist-mounted global positioning system receiver from Garmin specifically designed for hiking that offers a step-up from the company's Foretrex 301 model. Featuring a built-in barometric altimeter for visualized information on elevation and air pressure levels, this model comprises a rugged waterproof design for reliability in all outdoor conditions.

Users can set a base camp location at the beginning of each day, using the "TracBack" route tracing function see how far they've come at any given time. A digital compass is included for true all-in-one navigation, with 50 user-created waypoints available for quick reference to a checkpoint or landmark.
