The aera 550 features a 4.3" widescreen display, and is preloaded with road and topographical maps and databases of private airports and points of interest. In flight mode, the device also features a warning system for looming obstructions and other dangers. In automotive mode, GPS capability includes voice turn-by-turn directions. Bluetooth enables hands-free calling with a compatible mobile phone. The 550 is a minor step up from the aera 510, adding higher-resolution graphics, a larger airport database, and additional automotive features, but dropping support for XM satellite radio.
